Lesson Skype

About teaching Shakuhachi, nothing will replace face to face in person's lesson. It's usually like that you learn Shakuhachi.
But fortunately thanks to the technology nowadays, Skype lesson can work well too. Personally I was taught without any detailed explanations of how to blow, fingering... . It's like Zazen or zen meditation. In Japan, the traditional way of teaching Shakuhachi in the old time, would be to let you play one note (the RO, or the roots note) for 3-6 months and then you might play with the teacher (sensei). It used to be a test to check your motivation.
Please don't panic :) I won't let you play the same note for 6 months or Only if you ask me :) !
I 'll adapt my teaching to your pace, your needs and explain you as much details as possible the atmosphere, history, fingering, notes of the melody. Be aware that, in the process you 'll have to learn some basic Japanese too. (The Japanese syllable katakana is used on the music score) . But don't worry ! even you are completely beginner in Japanese, you can learn and play.
Last important point, you'll need to get one Shakuhachi by yourself too (Auctions,..). Of course I ll support you as much as possible in that way. Finally, you'll learn some Buddhism, Japanese culture and customs too, as part of the lesson.
Sounds interesting right?!

* If you keep following the lessons, after 3 months, there would be a donation fee for Myoanji temple called Nyumon as the "entrance fees". Depending on your progress, there are 6 certifications from the beginner level to "teacher" level, each of them has to be paid to the temple and I ll have to do the transaction for you. You can't pay it directly to the temple, it has to be the professor to do so. Please feel free to contact me for further details.
* Be aware, the Shakuhachi is not provided. There is nowadays plastic one that sounds like shakuhachi. It's not the best but it's the most affordable option (around 30-40$) especially if you are not sure about if you would keep on learning or not. It might be a good solution. But at term, it's important to have a real one (bamboo) if possible Jinashi. (See shakuhachi page). I know some serious sellers can provide you good second hand shakuhachi quiet cheap (200-300$) which is probably the best option.
* For monthly course, the payment will be done at the beginning of each month via Paypal or Bank transfer. I ll provide all the details by private message.
* In case of cancellation of the last minute (12 hours prior the start of the lesson) the lesson's fee wil be due. Only in case of emergency, or something really serious, we will plan a makeup lesson.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING.
